Last Day! |
Yesterday was already the last day of the Summer session for the kids Mother's Day Out program! I knew it was only a 9 week program when we signed them up, and two days a week doesn't seem like much, but it was something! It was something to get them out the house, around other kids, and me a few hours to myself again! That's all I expected from this program! What I didn't expect was the actual amount that my kids would learn, or just HOW much they would mature and grow being away from us, or that they would love it SO much that they are already begging to go back next week and I have to explain it's going to be a few more weeks until they can!
The theme for the program was "Around the World". And other than the title I didn't know what much to expect (but I LOVE themes, so I was excited for them!), but what they got to learn about, craft, and even taste was SO neat! Each two weeks the school would introduce them to a new place around the world and then would spend their school days teaching, and crafting about that place, and at the end of the two weeks they would have a meal from that particular location! Considering the furthest my babies have traveled from Texas is only to Colorado, this was a great cultural learning experience for them! Destiny's already made mention of wanting to go to these places one day when she's bigger, and that makes me so happy! So here's a list of their "Travels" and experiences!
 |
China |
First up was a "visit" to China! They painted the flag of China, they made paper lanterns and Chinese fans, and even a panda! They also got to try to eat with chopsticks!
 |
Mexico |

Next they made their way to Mexico! This was one of the kids' favorites, mainly in part because of the way they would say, "MEXICOOO!". They painted the flag of Mexico, they got to make piƱatas stuffed with candy and treats, they made maracas and sombreros, and got to wear the sombreros around! At the end they had a Fiesta, with burritos and Mexican cookies!
 |
Italy |
Then came Italy! They made the Italian flag, painted some pizzas, and had a big pizza party! (The pizza made this one fun for them, they had no idea that's where their favorite food came from!!)
Up next came South Africa! For this one they painted the flag, learned all about all of the animals that live there, they made rain sticks, paper toucans, binoculars and even drums! These paper toucans were so adorable!

South Africa |
Their last stop Around the World was to England! They painted the flag, they crafted palace guards, made paper crowns, made London double decker buses and a teacup. For their meal they had Fish & Chips (aka, fish sticks and French fries!). They LOVED this one as well.

England |
On their last day yesterday they sent home "Postcards" from England, and brought home their passports with all of their stamps of the countries they learned about! Such a special keepsake to such a fun Summer of learning! They'll see photos or some of their crafts and start giving us random facts, or say, " I want to go there!" But for now we'll enjoy our small break and just be counting down the days until they get to go back for the regular session in September!
Momma's, do you have any awesome experiences with any programs for your kids like a Mother's Day Out or Preschool? In the beginning I signed them up so I could get a small break, I just had no idea it would turn into their favorite part of our week and turn into all about them having fun and learning so much! Let me know what you've went through with your babes being away from you!
