Here's to a New Chapter!
Today marks the start of a new chapter for me, for my family, and for our future. It's something that has been a LONG time coming, and oh how it excites me to feel this good about a decision! This morning I officially get to add full time college student to my list of job titles! For over 4 years now it's just been wife and stay at home mom and although those both do a REALLY good job of keeping you busy and occupied, I'm beyond excited to start my new journey!
Since signing up and spreading the word of my college plans, I've gotten a ton of support (Thank you!) But I've also gotten a few people who question my decision, who have made comments about why college with 4 kids and a husband is a bad idea, and then there are those who don't even believe in going to college at all. And with all of that, I can safely say that by writing this blog I'm giving you a viewing platform into my life, but all that allows you to do is form your own opinions. That's it, an opinion! That opinion holds no value on my life, the decisions I'll make, or the way I feel about something. Just as my opinion of your decisions should be held the same way.
So trust me, as I'm walking into a classroom this morning for the first time in over 10 years, I won't be thinking about you and your opinion. But what I will be thinking about is my kids, my amazingly supportive husband, and my future. These next several years of work will all be to reach a goal. A goal that is important to me. A goal that holds so much value that no matter what obstacles get in the way between here and there, that goal will keep me focused. For that, I'm thankful. Even though our goals differ from person to person, that doesn't make them any less important, or any less exciting! Value your own goals, set your own personal limits, and put in the work to make whatever you want happen. While we're all working towards different goals, we're all still working hard for ourselves and our families.
Will it be a crazy, stressful, new adventure going to school full time at 25 years old with 4 kids and a husband, all while still having all of my stay at home mom duties? Why yes, yes it will! But, I am SO excited for this next step and that's all that matters. I love challenging myself, and I always have. That's something that is made apparent with literally ALL of my past life choices. I never take the easy route, so why would I start now?! This challenge is one that is going to hold such great reward for me, and for myself, that's worth everything.
Today is the first day of a new chapter, and it's up to me how that chapter will get written. Same for you, for today, for tomorrow, and for every other day we're blessed with. Life is so short, but if we would spend our time doing more that made us happy and fulfilled we wouldn't notice it as much. So as I start to write this next chapter for myself and my family, I'm filling it full of goals, happiness, and hard work! I hope you fill your days with what makes you happy too! Stay tuned for stories along the way as I head into this new crazy adventure! Here goes nothing! 😀
